چکیده

Detection of the repetitive sequence pPra specific for Trichinella spiralis was carried out by PCR in the blood of 37 patients infected tout to six weeks previously, during a horse-meat related outbreak of trichinellosis (Paris, 1993). Only two patients of 37 wete PCR-positive. Human blood was sampled during the febrile phase of the disease, before any antihelminthic treatment. To assess the validity of the method, blood was taken from mice, 7, 1 0, and 1 3 days after infection by a Trichinella spiralis isolate obtained during the human outbreak. Trichinella DNA was detected in blood of mice, but only on day 7 post infection.

Molecular identification of Korean Trichinella isolates.

Muscle larvae of Trichinella isolates from two outbreaks in Korea were analyzed by a polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) and multiple-PCR. All of the muscle larvae showed a band similar to that of T. spiralis larvae of the reference strain. The two Korean Trichinella isolates (isolate code ISS623 and ISS1078) might be classifiable to Trichinella spiralis.

Evaluation of two PCR-based techniques for molecular epidemiology in Finland, a high-endemic area with four sympatric Trichinella species.

Trichinella larvae collected from wildlife, domestic and synanthropic animals in Finland were identified to species by two molecular techniques: Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and the recently described multiplex PCR. The RAPD-PCR was very sensitive to the sub-optimal preservation muscle larvae and resulting in weak and smeared bands on the gels for such...

Amelioration of Myogenin, Bcl-2 expression and DNA damages in myocytes of Trichinella spiralis-infected mice after immunization with gamma radiation-attenuated larvae

Background: In trichinosis, the presence of muscle larvae inside skeletal striated muscle causes loss of identity and function of myotube through the releasing of myogenin and myosin. Considering the dominant role of vaccination, research on gamma radiation-attenuated vaccine has very promising value. The goal of this study was to determine the efficacy of vaccination with radiation-attenuated ...

Innovative molecular diagnosis of T richinella species based on β‐carbonic anhydrase genomic sequence

Trichinellosis is a helminthic infection where different species of Trichinella nematodes are the causative agents. Several molecular assays have been designed to aid diagnostics of trichinellosis. These assays are mostly complex and expensive. The genomes of Trichinella species contain certain parasite-specific genes, which can be detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods. We selecte...

Larval viability and serological response in horses with long-term Trichinella spiralis infection.

The horse is considered an aberrant host for the nematode parasite Trichinella spiralis, and many aspects of the biology and epidemiology of Trichinella infection in the horse are poorly understood. It has been reported that experimentally-infected horses produce a transient serological response to infection and that muscle larvae are cleared more rapidly than in parasite-adapted hosts such as ...
